This photograph captures a typical concrete hurricane proof fishing pier along the Gulf Coast which have replaced vulnerable wooden structures.  The Emerald Coast of Florida is appropriately named as can be seen in this capture.  Clarity is most pronounced in late spring when visibility on local dive sites approaches 100 ft. It is not unusual for sailfish to be caught from this pier on Pensacola Beach in summer months.
